Can you bring a napkin sketch to get a countertop quote?

Yes. Bring the napkin.

We say this because a lot of homeowners put off calling a countertop shop because they think they're not ready. They haven't finalized the cabinet layout. They don't have drawings from a designer. They've been meaning to measure but haven't gotten around to it. So the project lives in a folder or in their head for another six months.

You don't need to be ready in that sense to get a quote from us. A rough sketch of your kitchen layout with approximate dimensions is enough to start a real conversation — and usually enough to give you a ballpark price that day.

What "napkin sketch" actually means in practice

We're not being cute about it. Homeowners have come in with:

• A drawing on an actual paper towel with the island marked in pen
• A phone photo of their kitchen with dimensions scrawled in the corner
• A screenshot from a home design app with half the measurements filled in
• A sketch on graph paper from 2019 that's been sitting in a drawer

Any of those works. What we need to understand is roughly how much linear footage you're dealing with, where the sink and cooktop are going, whether there's an island, and what edge profiles you're considering. We can usually fill in what's missing with questions.

Why rough is okay at this stage

The precise measurements that drive our actual fabrication come from our CNC laser template — and we don't pull that template until you've picked your slab and you're ready to move forward. The template is what the saw trusts, not your sketch. So the sketch doesn't need to be to scale or architecturally precise. It just needs to communicate the space well enough for us to have a useful conversation with you.

If you come in with something rough and we can't make sense of it, we'll just ask you questions until we can. It's not a test.

What to bring if you want a quote on the first visit

• A sketch of your kitchen layout (even rough)
• Approximate measurements for each run of countertop, including the island if there is one
• A note on your sink situation (undermount, drop-in, farmhouse, etc.)
• Any photos of kitchens you like — countertop color/material preferences, edge profiles

If you have a cooktop in the countertop rather than a range, note that too.

What you don't need: a contractor present, cabinet specifications, or a finalized design. We can work around those details.

From sketch to installed countertops: how it goes

1. You come in with your sketch and dimensions. We talk through material options and pricing.
2. You pick a slab from our inventory (or we source something specific).
3. We schedule a template appointment — one of our team comes to your kitchen with laser equipment and pulls precise measurements.
4. We fabricate in our shop in Cayce.
5. We install. Most projects run two to three weeks from template to installed stone.

That's it. A lot of homeowners are surprised how uncomplicated the process is once they actually start it.
